WHAT: Active Healthy Kids Canada and Kellogg Canada, will launch Kidz
Count, a step counter program using pedometers, designed to
increase the activity levels of Canadian kids.
WHY: May 10th is the World Health Organization's "Move for Health"
Day which urges member countries to celebrate by promoting
physical activity as essential for health and well-being.
Recent research shows that close to 20 per cent of Canadian
youths are overweight. The overall causes of obesity are
attributed to low physical activity levels and high sedentary
pastimes.
