Getting Active with the 5 / 30 Fitness Challenge

LEVIS, Jan. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - Desjardins Group, in partnership with Acti-Menu, is launching a new challenge to its 39,000 employees, their families and the 7,660 elected caisse officers. The third annual Getting Active with the 5 / 30 Fitness Challenge invites all of Desjardins to practice physical activity for 30 minutes, 5 days out of 7, and eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

The Challenge will be held from March 1 to April 11, 2006, as part of Desjardins' Health and Well-being program. "Every day, Desjardins invests in its greatest asset, its employees, by offering them a harmonious, respectful living environment. By focussing on human beings, Desjardins contributes to its employees' personal and professional development," asserts Mr. Jacques Dignard, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources of Desjardins Group who encourages other businesses to take similar initiatives for their employees.

All participants will benefit from guidance and support to meet their objectives. They will regularly receive e-mails of encouragement, be given access to Web sites with information about physical activity and nutrition, and advice from Acti-Menu. To further motivate its employees, Desjardins is also providing participation prizes valued at a total of $10,000.

Last year, more than 13,000 people participated in the Be Active and Win Challenge with Desjardins.
